Covenant

Welcome to Musings! As participants in the conversations on this blog, we covenant together that we will maintain a spirit of good will, of openness to each other, and of mutual respect in our discussions; that we will listen to each other and endeavor to understand each other, especially those whose views differ from ours; and that we will remember that we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

Why Musings?

  • The Musings Page will be a place to consider thought-provoking, evocative, sometimes polemical but not overtly political, writings, quotes, ideas, and poetry on the Christian life in all its facets: spiritual, religious, ethical, and practical.

Almost Christian?

The above is a link from a professor of youth ministry at Princeton Seminary (a
Presbyterian seminary!).

I think we do a good job of shaping our young people in a Christian faith that
is more than “moral therapeutic deism” – but its not hard to see the temptation
that churches face to avoid the hard-to-explain, sometimes hard-to-follow life of being Jesus’ disciple.

For you parents out there…where do you think your teenagers need to be challenged by the church?

For you teenagers out there, what can your church do to best nurture your faith?

The Christian Century has a more in depth article on this topic, with accompanying comments.  It can be accessed at Faith, Nice and Easy
